VUMC Neurology Website

The Vanderbilt University Medical Center Neurology Department contracted me to write copy and guide content for a long-overdue website redesign. I worked with division heads to reimagine a voice for the department that was welcoming, innovative, and intelligent–just like the physician scientists represented therein. I also guided the new page layouts and designs, developing a more visual approach to the content.

Fanfare Cincinnati (CSO & Pops)

One of the projects I’m most proud of in my career is Fanfare Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra needed to break free of the traditional playbill-style program books for an approach that allowed more storytelling. Thus, the magazine Fanfare Cincinnati was born. Together with a fantastic team, I wrote the articles, herded the cats, guided the layout and content, proofread until I was cross-eyed, and coordinated with the publisher and printer until we had a beautiful bound magazine to deliver to patrons every month.

I’ve got a bookshelf full of every copy I worked on. It’s not hoarding if it sparks joy, right?!

Annual Report (CSO & Pops)

How do you summarize the work of a huge, multi-faceted organization every year in a 20-page booklet while communicating goals and visions for the future and still maintaining your sanity? I never figured out the last part, but in collaboration with a talented graphic designer, I produced several annual reports that served as a storytelling device for current and potential donors aimed at boosting their confidence that their generosity would be well preserved with our organization. Like the Fanfare Cincinnati project above, this involved plenty of coordination, fact-gathering, photo-collecting and copywriting.

I love working on projects with a tangible end product!
